After another hour of walking (after the first ford), the Slatina River flows into Zlatitsa from the left of the valley. Very close by, upstream of the Slatina, there are two small but beautiful waterfalls. They can be reached quickly along an unmarked path. A house on the right of the road, directly opposite the waterfall, can serve as a guide for the location of the Slatina River.
Just 200m further up Zlatitsa, you reach a large fork in the road to the Kosharen area. From there, you can go out onto the ridge and reach Okolchitsa Peak or return to the village of Zverino by another route. On the other side of Zlatitsa, a road also climbs up the slope, leading to several villas. The route to the waterfall continues in the valley along the river. The path is entirely to the right of Zlatitsa (along the right bank). After half an hour of walking through the forest, you reach open meadows. Here, the road crosses the river and continues to the left of the river, while the path remains on the right. If you turn off the trail, you can see several beautiful rapids and pools along the Zlatitsa River. After the meadows, you enter the forest again and soon the glacial cascade of the waterfall opens before our eyes. There are benches and tables in the area for rest. Above the waterfall there is a small cave from which the river emerges. These are the springs of Zlatitsa. The return to the village is along the same path. Almost to the waterfall you can follow a dirt road, which is in relatively good condition and is passable by a higher vehicle. The road crosses the river at fords more than 10 times, so the markings in places avoid the road and bypass the bends of the river, thus avoiding wading in water. There is drinking water along the route in several places, but some of the fountains may dry up in the summer. The waterfall has a lot of water in the spring months, when it can be seen in its full glory. The rest of the time the walk is also pleasant, but you will miss the main attraction.
The route starts from the railway station of the village of Zverino. You walk entirely along the valley of the Zlatitsa River and return along the same road. Since you walk about 1.2 km on asphalt until you leave the village, if you are traveling by car you can save yourself about 40-50 minutes of walking and stop somewhere after the last houses to start from there. After the last houses the asphalt road turns into a dirt road and continues along the river. At first the terrain is almost open, there are no trees and you walk high above the river. Gradually more bushes and trees appear, and along the road you can see the remains of old mills, gardens and sheepfolds. Only after about two and a half kilometers of walking along the road (3.7 km from the station) do you cross the Zlatitsa River for the first time. From here on, if you walk only along the road, you will have to wade through the water many times, which is not the easiest or most pleasant, especially when the water is high. Therefore, follow the markings strictly. In the summer, frequent wading in the Zlatitsa fords is a pleasant change from the heat.
