The beginning of Petrenski Dol can be reached along the asphalt road from Gara Lakatnik to Gubislav and Probojnitsa chalet. At the first big curve of the road on the right there is a small parking lot. One of the paths from Gara Lakatnik to Milanovo village runs from there along Petrenski Dol. The area is picturesque and has long been a popular place for walks. The river is cut into the limestone rocks and especially at the beginning of the valley there are alternating rapids, waterfalls and pools. There are several suitable picnic spots along the stream. The Pig’s Hole cave and several sectors for sport climbing are situated next to the path.

The place is suitable for hiking in all seasons. The main trail is not marked, but it is easy to find your way because it completely follows the river. Immediately after the beginning of the trail, you can cross the river on a bridge and after a short climb, reach the entrance to Svinska dupka (Pig’s Hole). Continuing, the trail descends back to the river and exits onto the main route. On the other side of the river, several narrow paths lead to the rocks and climbing routes. High above the river are meadows that are covered with orchids in spring.
There are several bridges up Petrenski dol, but even without them, the river is easy to cross for most of the year. About a kilometer and a half from the beginning, on the right (in the opposite direction of travel), a path turns off from the main trail to Alpine Meadow and Lakatnik Rocks. Shortly after, the valley splits and the trail continues along the right fork. The interesting part ends after a few hundred meters at a spring water catchment and a meadow overgrown with bushes. From there, the trail heads left from the river and begins to climb the slope towards the village of Milanovo. The walk along the river takes a little over an hour one way (2km each way).
